New priority on Nation Broadband Network! Developing Aussie Jobs

NBN helps stop ‘export of jobs’: Gillard

Original article By James Riley on iTWire

Australia risked losing jobs to offshore markets if it failed to invest in the National Broadband Network as a critical piece of economic infrastructure, Julia Gillard has told Parliament.

The Prime Minister said the nation had emerged from the global financial crisis with opportunities for new growth and the NBN would play a “pivotal role” as the underlying infrastructure to exploit those opportunities.

In addition to returning the budget to surplus, which Ms Gillard remains committed to doing by 2012/13, she said Government was working to “expand the supply side of the economy.”

With an estimated value of over a $100Billion the eLearning industry is developing fast from just $50Billion a few years ago. Developing exports that have small deployment and adoption cost can be a key part of government focus and Beyondedge see this with the interest in “Apply First Aid” our eLearning course developed with our QLD government clients.

While an initial investment in a quality product is required the scale of deployment is global. Jobs created in developing these high end eLearning product span through Film and TV, with scripting, editing, casting, production – post production through to the programmers and art editors rooms to develop a highly interactive and engaging eLearning course. Education is becoming apart of our working life more and more and education in the English language has become the norm for emerging markets wanting to develop into a global market.

Deploying learning in emerging markets is only possible through leverage and eLearning is meeting this task head on. Beyondedge is looking to meet these needs and the NBN will support us and Australia in developing into this growing marketplace. Its good to see that the NBN is a major part of the governments agenda.

Congratulations Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Rural Operations

Beyondedge rubs shoulders with the State’s Highest office – Premier Anna Bligh at the Premier’s Awards, where our Rural Fire project was recognised for outstanding achievement.

Our Training Toolbox project for the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service – Rural Operations, was nominated for a Premier’s Award for its innovative delivery and engagement of Volunteer Fire Fighters.  The Training Toolbox, housed inside the Volunteer Portal provides a repository for short ‘learning-bytes’ of content to be delivered online, allowing fire fighters to fill in skill gaps that are crucial to performing at their best.

It also serves as a News Desk tool that allows crucial information to reach fire fighters across the state.  Fire Fighters can now receive timely updates and ‘on demand’ competency maintenance allowing them to do their job safely, providing protection to our community.

Congratulations to our lovely clients at Rural Fire, and we’re certain there’s more to come! View the Training Tool Box Showcase here.
