Beyondedge Press Releases

eLearning in Sydney! Brew tube learning portal.

We’re on our way to  showcase some of our work in Sydney at the eLearning11 event. Here’s a quick snap shot of what you can expect.

Online tactical eLeaning – Brew tube

One of our Sydney eLearning clients acquired a number of beverage brands, they needed a way to communicate detailed brand positioning and merchandising information not only in Sydney though nationally to their team of sales representatives.

Training a sales team is hard enough in a face to face environment.

If you tried to train them by moving a power point online you’re in trouble. It’s best to keep these personalitie types engaged through creative stories of experience (visualising their roles and experiences in the workplace) or up and active in role plays to emulate an experience.

So how do you take this on? Train a team in Sydney, film it, then upload the film so the national team can review what they may experience later in the year when the trainer arrives in their location? No, we didn’t think that would work.

Beyondedge responded with a learning portal called ‘Brew tube’, allowing

monthly engagement activities that included monthly missions, staff videos, information sharing and professionally produced media.

The result; a highly engaged sales team, eager and willing to learn, and a crystal clear understanding of the all important brand proposition (the key learning).

Designing your learning to work online may take a different approach, reproducing an old learning environment/material isn’t going to cut it! You need to think from the end and focus on the outcome you’re looking to produce.Trying to factor in learning portals, social learning, mlearning, blended learning, or what ever you want to call it, isn’t what its about as well.

Keep it simple, something that allows the learner to focus on what they are achieving (learning). Starting with a mission and giving them a clear understanding; ‘the learning was there to help you produce a result’, ‘the mission’. The sales team would return time and time again to sharpen their knowledge knowing and understanding the benefits of doing so.

Are you a part of the Sydney eLearning fraternity? Come and meet us at the eLearning11 event in December or contact us and we can drop into your office and show your team some of the latest developments and trends in eLearning.

Are you going to eLearning11 in Sydney?

What’s eLearning11 and why should you go?

If you’ve been following the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (AFLF) you’ll know that there has been a change! It’s now the National VET E-learning Strategy. Investment in the National Vocational Education and Training eLearning Strategy for 2012-2015 will stimulate innovative approaches to increasing participation in training and improve the skill levels of the Australian workforce.

The eLearning11 event held at Mercure Hotel Sydney, on the 7th of December will be the release of the National VET E-learning Strategy.

Why would it be important to you?

Well the strategy is driven by the vision of a globally competitive Australian training system underpinned by world class e-learning infrastructure and capability.

eLearning11 focuses on the goals of the Strategy:

Develop and utilise eLearning strategies to maximise the benefits of the national investment in broadband

Support workforce development in industry through innovative training solutions

Expand participation and access for individuals through targeted e-learning approaches

eLearning11 is designed for VET managers, learning and development coordinators, trainers and assessors interested in new ideas and the design of effective e-learning solutions.

Here’s where it gets interesting:

Funding of $11.5m has been approved for the Strategy in 2011/12 by the Ministerial Council on Tertiary Education and Training for programs and it marks the start of Investment in the National Vocational Education and Training eLearning Strategy for 2012-2015. This will stimulate innovative approaches to increasing participation in training and improve the skill levels of the Australian workforce.

So if you’re one of the following; a VET manager, learning and development coordinator, trainers and or assessor, you should be in Sydney for this event.

RSA eLearning course release!

A new era of eLearning has entered the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training market!

Together Beyondedge and Ignite Education have changed the way we will learn how to responsibly serve alcohol. Government regulation has recently been passed, requiring all employees in the Hospitality Industry, hold an RSA Certificate if they wish to be employed in Queensland.

A sudden dash by training organisations to develop eLearning has left the learner scared and lacking faith in eLearning as a resource to support their career development.

The training organisation has been profit focussed and no consideration has been given to develop a quality learning resource. We’ve seen many read-a-thons online, no engagement or compelling nature to them at all. It scared us, though excited us at the same time. The opportunity was there and Beyondedge rose to the challenge. This Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITFABOO9A) eLearning course is completely online and recognised by the Office of Liquor Gaming Regulation.

Are you looking into an RSA course? Explore our Virtual Bar and understand how many standard drinks are in all the different glasses. Then assess yourself in calculate mode, get more then two wrong and your out and will need to start again. We really enjoyed the development of this RSA course at Beyondedge and we hope the learners will enjoy it as well. We’d love to know what you think of our elearning, join us on one of our social channels for a chat: Facebook, twitter or Linkedin.
